GAP Turbos Reviews GAP Turbos 1566 Pershore Rd, Birmingham B30 2NH, UK

GAP Turbos Absolute joke, never buy and use this company

I came here with a Turbo related issue on my Audi A8 sending it into limp mode and was told it was a straight forward 'refurb' of the Turbo.

Once paying £500+ the same fault came back after 1 day. I took my car back and they said they would need to check the car again.

Few days later I was told the car was sorted so I went to collect it.

Two weeks later the same fault was back.

Each time I was told it was an electrical issue linked to the actuator and nothing to do with them (eventhough the Turbo and actuator come as a pair!) so I asked why they didn't diagnose that before charging me for the Turbo refurb??

I took the car to 2 autoelectricians who verified there was no issue with the electrics on the actuator.

So on my last visit to the garage Tony told me they had finally replaced the actuator as that was causing the fault and told me the car was still in limp mode due to an error code linked to swirl flaps.

This was another lie as I finally took it to Best Turbos who managed to re-programme my existing actuator and finally fix the problem.

Tony told me they had replaced my actuator while they did the turbo as the faulty wiring had blown the actuator (rubbish!).

All they actually did was spray it with a new coat of paint!

I noticed this as my actuator had a small crack in it and so did the 'replacement'.

Best Turbos showed me the diagnosis report and there was NOTHING linked to swirl flaps and none of the codes in the history matched the error code that I was given by Gap Turbos.

I have never had to revisit a garage so mant times...

Countless taxi journeys and lifts from mates!

The amount of inconvenience bringing my car to Gap Turbos has caused me is immeasurable!

The worst thing is I was warned by two separate garages to avoid Gap Turbos so I guess I have myself to blame.

However I will never return to these guys and to think they do warranty work for the AA is a shambles.

I'll be putting in a complaint to the AA too very soon.

Tony sounds like a nice chap on the phone and in person too but they lack the expertise to resolve real problems and brush you off once they've had your money hoping you don't come back.

In this case I will definitely never return to this garage in the future!

Absolutely no customer service skills whatsoever.

Hi guys,

I don't normally write reviews,

Bought a turbo from GAP TURBOS

They quoted me £450.00 and charged me another £390.00 for another turbo that I never ordered.

Absolute joke

Gap Turbos replaced the VNT and turbo actuator in my Mercedes and again same problem.

Took it back they said everything is fine.

Took to main Merc dealer and they said swirl flaps had been disconnected so had the motor replaced.

Worked fine for a short period but still loose of power.

Went back to Gap Turbos to test turbo again - they said its fine.

Horrible overboost noise come again from turbocharger.

They said its not turbo related. Ok so i took it to mtc a cracking asian lad called sam deleted and blanked off my egr valve and swirl flaps.

Then i had limp mode.

I got sam mtc midlands tuning company to drop the car off at gap for turbo check yet again.

Guess what turbo is boosting fine they said. So of course i go and collect it hoping all is fine.

Got to gap (yet another taxi fare, this is probably about the 10th visit over a period of 12 months) and they said your turbo is fine however your dpf filter is nearly full so to speak.

I said oh ok, i then ring Mercedes of lawley middleway (think thats the name of the road) and spoke to a lovely woman.

I said to her can you check my car please.

I need to know if my Mercedes E320 had a DPF.

I gave her the details.

She came back on the phone and said no your car doesn't have a DPF filter.

What are gap thinking. Why lie about things.

So back to the turbo as they said its fine.

Ok took it elsewhere Best Turbos.

They told me the vanes are sticky and jamming hence, took a video of the vanes and various photos.

Best Turbos FITTED ME A BRAND NEW VNT AND ACTUATOR AND RED SEAL AT COST OF MY OWN. £480 to be precise.

And now guess what it runs fine.

Like a rocket.

THE REASON I WENT TO Best Turbos IS BECAUSE THEY DID THE JOB RIGHT.

If gap had done the job right in the first place then i wouldn't have to write this.

They are called Best Turbos for a reason.

If you looking for turbo for light vehicle, go to Best Turbos website

I will tell you the story about worst company in the UK. Gap Turbos,

His owner name is Brian, his son left father’s company 2 years ago.

Why?

Never get pay “properly”.

Brian does not like pay for own staff.

People working for “cash in hand”!

No pay slips no insurance, no pay holidays, nothing!

Gap Turbos
reception is dirty and miscasting.

Customer service never been skilled, couldn’t answer for my basic question.

On the front working English people with bad language. I think they speak only in local slang 

Gap Turbos replaced my turbo in BMW 320D and car still had the same lag problems and noises.

Best Turbos told me the vanes are sticky and jamming hence, took a video of the vanes and various photos.
Best Turbos fitted me a brand new turbo again and problem is gone.

My BMW 320D E46 is like a rocket now.

Thank you for my attention

Gap Turbos absolute liars and crooks & to prove it heres why gave my car in for inspection due to loss of power.

I was sent a text telling me my DPF needed cleaning & turbocharger replacement.

The price me near £900

Heres the problem my car does not have a DPF filter.

My fault then to carry on doing business with them they replaced the turbo after two days the the oil light came on they never clipped the pipes back on after closere inspection the intercooler pipes were broken and since then there has been a lack of power and oil pouring out of the intercooler pipes.

The turbo came with a 2 year warranty but after they inspected it they claim nothing is wrong with the turbo.

So now its a case for the small claims court I have had the car inspected by an independent garage and the results are surprise surprise

The turbo.

Had my Volvo XC90 three times for dropping into limp mode, they gave up in the end and gave me a partial refund.

There were two other guys complaining at the counter when I went to collect my car.

Lots of wasted time and money.

Had it fixed straight away by the Best Turbos people in Oldbury: https://www.bestturbos.uk/

I do recommend this company.
