Audi A3 BKD turbocharger problem limp mode

Post by Ivanrah » Fri Aug 10, 2018 8:58 am

hello
my 2.0 tdi bkd recently goes into limp mode after harder acceleration.
My garage told me that this is related to turbocharger but they want £100 for dismount turbo and look whats inside.
I dont want to waste my money so firstly I would like to hear what is your opinion guys?

This could mean that you have sticky vains in your turbocharger and unfortunately turbocharger must be replaced
If you are in West Midlands, Birmingham area then on Oldbury you can find Best Turbos, they offer free turbo inspection

https://www.facebook.com/bestturbos

ask them for inspection or for advice they are very friendly and patient

If VNT in my turbocharger got stuck then cannot only this part be repaired or replaced?

VNT is internal part of turbocharger - to replace it you have to disassemble turbocharger and open it. There is no point to replace only this part as it will fail again very soon. Turbocharger needs to be replaced if you dont want to waste your time and money in future.

I just spoke to Luke from best turbo and he told me exactly the same thing.

What do you think about second hand turbos?

MAte when you buy second hand turbocharger you count on luck. People selling second hand turbochargers that will last you for few months and then what? You gonna waste your money and I believe that you dont want to.

Go to professional garage that will fit reconditioned turbocharger and cover it with warranty for your peace of mind. In many cases reconditioned turbocharger are even better than new one because of upgraded internals.

I live in Milton Keynes but in my area I cant find any reasonable turbo centre.

I will buy turbocharger from best turbos I think so and will fit it in my local garage, just need to get quote first
